Contracting Activity: Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 23, VA Central Iowa Health Care System (VACIHCS), 3600 30th St, Building 7E, Des Moines, IA 50310. 2237: 499-26-3-6720-0014 2. Nature and/or Description of the Action Being Processed: This procurement is for upgrade services for Ophthalmology and Optometry instruments VISN wide. These request services are for support of eye imaging modalities with an interface to Carl Zeiss FORUM PACS middleware and the Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR). This VA system interfaces an eye care image and data management system specifically designed for hospitals to improve their workflow efficiency. 3. Description of Supplies/Services Required to Meet the Agency-s Needs: This requirement will upgrade the software and hardware of installed instruments to bring the software up to date. The upgraded software is due to end of life by the software OEM, Microsoft, therefore upgrades need to be completed prior to the deadline set by the OEM. This will ensure network security for VA personnel and patients, while also maintaining compatitbility with the FORUM PACS and EHR networks, as well as the extended life of installed instruments. Estimated Total: $422, 895.00 4. Statutory Authority Permitting Restricted Competition: FAR 13.5 Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Items. The statutory authority for applying the Simplified Procedures for Commercial Items of FAR 13.5 is 41 U.S.C. § 1901 and is implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b)(2) for restricting competition on this procurement.
