Notice of Intent to Award a Contract
Notice is hereby given that the City of Abbotsford (the “City”) is contemplating making a direct award of a contract to Acuren Group Inc. (the “Service Provider”- the “Supplier”, etc.) for the following:
•Phase 1: Purging of Gas and complete an API 510 inspection of the Methane Storage Tank locate atthe James Wastewater Treatment plant.•Phase 2: Complete minor repairs as required to the Methane Storage Tank
The contract will be for the time required to complete the purging of the Methane Gas and complete the safety inspection of the tank. The Contractor will also complete any minor repairs that are found during the inspection.
Background
Methane gas is a byproduct of the sewage treatment process at JAMES. The gas is collected and stored on site to provide a constant supply of biogas that is used to heat the plant. The remaining portion of the gas is flared off.
The BC Safety Authority requires that the tank be inspected and certified every five years to stay operational.
The BC Safety Authority has extended the allowable time for inspection and any required repairs. If the inspection and certification is not completed in a timely manner, the tank will need to be shut down and this would pose a safety issue to the biogas system of the plant.
