The Shoreside Infrastructure Project at the JLFT involves the delivery of civil, structural and electrical works to support the operation of electric ferry vessels starting in 2026 (“Project”).A general description of the four components of the Project are as follows: Foundation systems for three Electric Houses (“E-Houses”) supplied by the Client-s electrical system integrator (“Electrical System Integrator”). Underground ducts running from the street to the E-Houses, and from there to four JLFT docks. These underground ducts will carry the electrical wiring originating from Toronto Hydro on Queens Quay West and will terminate at the Automatic Shore Charging Systems (“ASCS”, also known as “charging towers”). Upgrading of the four docks to accommodate new fenders, new mooring bollards and a new concrete pad on which to place the ASCS supplied by the Electrical System Integrator (As a part of the Project only two of the docks will be equipped with an ASCS, while the remaining two will have all enabling works completed for the future installation of ASCS). Dismantling of the existing dolphin structure(s) to implement a new arrangement of six dolphins on independent piles, on which a rotating fender system and mooring bollards will be installed.
