Invitation to market dialogue, Rail project Liminka-Oulu double track MARKET DIALOGUE The Oulu-Liminka double track railway project will organize a market dialogue on the project's future design assignments and construction contracts on Wednesday 1 July 2026 from 9 am to 11 am. At the event, the project will be presented in general and the procurement schedule for future assignments and contracts. OULU-LIMINKA DOUBLE RAIL PROJECT AND GOALS In the Liminka-Oulu double track project, the capacity, smoothness and reliability by building a new track next to the existing one. The goals of the project include: • Increase the capacity of the track section and reduce sensitivity to disturbances. Liminka-Oulu is currently a single-track bottleneck between Ylivieska and Oulu. Double track enables smoother traffic and reduces delays. • Improves the functionality of passenger and goods traffic. The project supports both growing passenger traffic and heavy goods traffic. The goal is better coordination and shorter travel times. • Raises the technical level and enables an increase in speed. Target speed: 200 km/h for passenger trains. Two corrections will be built to reach the target speed. Lifting axle weight: 250 kN. • Improves the functionality of traffic locations.
