Agder County Council has carried out a preliminary project for Agder Arena at Gimle in Kristiansand. Before the project proposal is sent for final political consideration, we want dialogue with the contracting industry and other relevant actors on key issues related to the project's further development and implementation. Agder Arena is planned as a large multi-purpose building that will help to transform central areas of Gimle. The project will facilitate the joint use and co-location of upper secondary education, broad-based and elite sports, cultural events, health and volunteering as well as other social purposes. The aim is to develop a regional competence and activity hub that strengthens social sustainability, promotes public health and contributes to increased regional attractiveness. The planned building has a provisional gross area of approximately 28, 000 m2. In the preliminary project, several alternative concepts of different sizes and levels of ambition have been developed. In December 2026, the county council will present a political case with a recommended solution and associated funding plan. The attached plans have been prepared to illustrate that the project can be realized within the framework of the current regulatory plan. Before deciding on a further strategy for implementing the project, Agder County Council wants to benefit from the market's experience, expertise and innovative power.
