Tender Details

The NSW Government is delivering a New Intercity Fleet (NIF) to replace the trains carrying customers from Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Blue Mountains and the South Coast. The program of works includes discrete scopes of work for Rolling Stock procurement, design and construction of a train maintenance facility and three infrastructure projects to upgrade existing facilities on the network to allow for operation of the NIF.

The Rolling Stock procurement has been awarded to RailConnect NSW as joint venture which will design, build and maintain the NIF.

The detailed design and construction of the new maintenance facility at Kangy Angy, which will service and maintain the New Intercity Fleet, is being delivered by John Holland Pty Ltd on behalf of Transport for NSW. The maintenance facility includes offices, amenities, staff parking and ancillary buildings as well as flood free access for local residents via a new bridge that will connect Enterprise Drive to Orchard Road in the suburb of Kangy Angy.

Management of the interface between the Rolling Stock procurement and the design and construction of the Maintenance Facility is fundamental to the success of both projects. TfNSW requires an Interface Manager to maximise best for project opportunities and mitigate potential and arising risks associated with the interface between the Rolling Stock and Maintenance Facility. The Interface Manager must understand the need for cost effective management of projects and show a demonstrated ability to execute timely solutions to complex technical and commercial problems across multiple parties while mitigating risks to project costs and timelines.

The Interface Manager Rolling Stock and Maintenance Facility will report to the Project Director - New Intercity Fleet and will:

Coordinate the interface scope between the train supplier (RailConnect NSW), NSW Trains and the maintenance facility contractor (John Holland) during the Maintenance Facility delivery phase (design and construct).
Gain a thorough understanding of both the train and maintenance facility commercial contracts and technical specifications in order to identify risks and opportunities to ensure smooth delivery.
Identify gaps between the train supplier-s and maintenance facility contractor-s needs/contractual obligations through documentation and attendance at relevant interface workshops throughout the design development phase.
Be the resource responsible for investigating all options and creating trade-off studies to put forward whole of life solutions for consideration by the NIF Project Director.
Where scope interface clashes exist, assess options and prepare recommendations for co
