THIS IS A NOTICE OF THE GOVERNMENT'S INTENT TO ISSUE A SOLE SOURCE AWARD. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The U.S. Geological Survey intends to award a non-competitive firm fixed-price purchase order under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) to Thermo Electron North America LLC in West Palm Beach, FL for ELEMENT2 mass spectrometer maintenance service contract for the Geology, Energy & Minerals Science Center in Reston, Virginia. The period of performance is 07/01/2025 to 06/30/2026. The mass spectrometer was built by Thermo Electron; the company retains sole control of all materials used in its manufacture, all replacement parts, particularly of electronic board design, software architecture, and service. Thermo Electron holds all of the patents for the instruments and does not support dealers or resellers, no other sources are authorized to provide labor and replacement parts. There are no available parts or software or trained service engineers for maintenance that could be used instead of the parts and staff from Thermo Electron.The NAICS code is 811210.
