Area 19 is a large and important expansion project that leaves the old idea of the compact campus around De Groene Loper and the Zaale becomes a central axis for the university. The ideas developed earlier, as laid down in Master Plan and Landscape Vision, cannotBeing fully implemented because the required area is now not made free of all the buildings that are there.
The global program of requirements of the building includes:
Laboratories: 5, 000 m2 NO;
- Education: 1 Lecture Hall 600 people and 2 Lecture Halls for 150 people (approx. 1.500 m2No);
offices: 3, 000 m2 no;
- General areas: 1, 500 m2 no.
The building will offer housing to labs of the Faculties Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics and Mechanical Engineering. The focus of these labs will be particularly on research related to Semiconducters. That will take placeIn physical laboratories, partly in labs with strict temperature requirements and partly with, for example, heavy and vibration-sensitive laser and vacuum equipment.
In addition, the growth of specific labs of Electical Engineering in this building will countries. These labs - where research is being done into the energy infrastructure- require infrastructure with high and special flows, other labs in the building may not be bothered by this.
