Tender Details

Request for Tender for Install Remote Sensors Connected to an Open Low Power Wide Area Network on the “Things Network”.

Description: Connected Cities is a collaborative project between City of Prospect, City of Burnside, City of Port Adelaide Enfield, City of Playford, Campbelltown City Council, and the University of Adelaide to install remote sensors connected to an open Low Power Wide Area Network on the “Things Network” platform to provide ongoing data about the usage of council assets such as parks and main streets. These open anonymous datasets will allow Councils to make more informed decisions regarding the management of public space assets, the efficient maintenance of parks, and to measure the success of place making and activation efforts on mainstreets.

Due to the open nature of the data collected private enterprises with an interest in the various mainstreets and public spaces will be able to analyse the data allowing them to adjust and maximize their own commercial offerings, and advocate for regulatory changes if needed. Additionally, the installation of such a vast open low powered network will provide an open testing ground for “Internet of Things” (IoTs) technologies used by scientists, or produced by local entrepreneurs and STEM students. This project will be a vital unified first step into the world of IoTs and smart city technology. This program will put in place the key early infrastructure required for future smart city projects.
