Background The United Nations World Food Program, hereafter called PMA, with regional headquarters of Latin America and the Caribbean (Lacro) 128, C. Teofilo de la Torre, City of Knowledge, Ancon, Panama, Province of Panama is a leading humanitarian organization dedicated to saving and Transform lives, provide emergency food assistance and work with communities to improve nutrition as well as develop resilience by helping almost 100 million people in around 83 countries each year. WFP efforts focus on emergency assistance, Socorro and rehabilitation, development aid and special operations. Two thirds of our work are done in countries affected by conflicts, where people are three times more likely to be malnourished than those living in countries without conflicts. Approximately 22, 000 people work for the organization, most of them in remote areas, directly attending to people and communities affected by poverty and hunger. WFP estimates that 40 million people suffer from hunger in the 13 countries where PMA has offices (Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, the Caribbean, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela).
