Brief description of assignment:

the overall responsibility of the senior social specialist will be to perform the tasks of land acquisition process for selected polders, compensate affected persons, resettle and rehabilitate them through preparation and implementation of resettlement action plans, and supervise and monitor the social mobilization and participatory water management activities. The scope of works for the position are 1) task a: land acquisition, 2) task b: social lmpact assessment and resettlement planning, 3) lmplementation of raps and 4) supervision of social mobilization and participatory water management activities. Details of assignments/ tasks of the senior social specialist are furnished in the terms of reference (tor). Interested applicant may obtain tor in the bwdb`s official website: www.bwdb.gov.bd

qualification & experiance required:the senior social specialist should have masters` degree in sociology/ economics/social welfare and any other social sciences with about 15 years of work experience of which at least 7 years should be directly related to the relevant tasks of land acquisition and resettlement. The specialist must have demonstrated sound technical expertise in international good practices on social safeguards and have proven track record of providing social safeguard oversight functions. Knowledge and experience in participatory social research and project management will be useful. Knowledge of world bank/ asian development bank or similar development partners` processes and guidelines on social safeguards will be necessary. S/he must have excellent communication and writing skills with higher-level computer skills in windows operating system (word, excel, access, etc.) and other applications.

Other details (if applicable):the consultants will be selected in accordance with world bank guidelines: selection and employment of consultants by the world bank borrowers, [january 2011 (revised july 2014)]. Applicants currently in government service in the client`s country may apply only if they satisfy paragraph 1.13 (d) of the consultant guidelines. Expression of interest (hard copy) must be delivered to the address below by 12-04-2017 in three sets (1 original + 2 copies) and a soft copy in cd ( in word version) clearly marked “expression of interest” for the “consultancy services for senior social specialist” under pmu, ceip-i, (contract package no.ceip-1/d1/s11). The applicant (who are in job) shall furnish an undertaking along with their eoi to the effect that he/she will be available to join in ceip-i, if selected by the client.
