Description : The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking a Contractor to provide helicopter services for large mammal captures (including but not limited to deer, bighorn sheep, elk, pronghorn antelope, mountain lion, and wolf) throughout California. Legislative mandates require the CDFW to manage these species.Wildlife captures may be conducted throughout the year. Most of the helicopter work will be conducted in the more remote areas of California from southern deserts in summer to northern mountain ranges in winter. Flights will be conducted at both standard (up to10, 000 feet above sea level; ASL) and high elevational ranges (between 10, 000 and 13, 000 feet ASL), however, the majority of flights will occur at elevations ranging from 4, 000 to 9, 000 feet ASL.In general, the use of the helicopter to capture large mammals involves either: (1) the close pursuit of individual animals for the purpose of net gunning or darting with chemical immobilizing drugs; or (2) the herding of individuals or groups of animals into linear drive nets or corral traps. The technique employed for the capture of various wildlife species depends on a number of factors, including study and capture objectives, species, location, terrain, vegetation, time of year, etc. The services will be performed Statewide, as directed by the CDFW Contract Manager.Click "View Event Package" to download Invitation for Bid, Bid Cost Sheet, and Sample Contract.
