RFP BACKGROUNDThe University of Waterloo Food Services provides a range of products and services to students, faculty, staff, and the broader community through the operation of 25 outlets. The department includes residence cafeterias, cash operations outlets, franchises, Catering Services, Conference Services, vending and fine dining at the University Club.There are approximately 40 cooking exhaust hoods and ventilation systems (includes hoods, ducts, fans, filters and vents) in 12 buildings that need to be cleaned annually. Most of these hoods need to be cleaned twice a year.The regular cleaning of hoods as per legislative requirements and the National Fire protection Association Standard 96; NFPA-96 Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations is important for maintaining a clear and safe environment for food handlers. Approximately $80, 000 is spent by Food Services on hood cleaning in a year in conjunction with Plant Operations with a substantial expectation for growth over the next couple years due to new constructions of student residences.Through this RFP process, Food Services is interested in obtaining a vendor/or a maximum of two vendors who is/are able to provide quality, timely and cost effective hood cleaning services as per the RFP and Draft Agreement.
