Heat pump supply works - AIL thermal power plant - Gemmo As part of the construction of a new district heating network in the Municipality of Lugano, the construction of the Gemmo district heating plant is planned, equipped with heat pumps intended to cover approximately 80% of the network's heat needs. The thermal source of the heat pumps is made up of the drinking water tanks adjacent to the power plant. Since it is not possible to directly use drinking water as a feed fluid of heat pumps, heat transfer occurs via an intermediate circuit that uses CO2 as a heat transfer fluid on the evaporator side.
