Heat mapping and vulnerability to heat waves in Trondheim
1. General information about the assignment Trondheim municipality, hereinafter referred to as the client, invites an open tender in connection with the conclusion of an agreement on "Heat mapping and vulnerability to heat waves in Trondheim. The competition is announced in DOFFIN, see www.doffin.no, through the client's competition implementation tool (KGV) Mercell.2. Background The temperature in Norway has increased and will continue to increase as a result of climate change. As a result of the general increase in temperature, we will more often experience periods of extreme heat, so-called "heat waves. One "Norwegian heat wave is defined as five or more consecutive days where the maximum temperature is 27 degrees or higher. Globally, the number of heat waves for the period 2013-2022 has increased by 94% compared to the period 1986-2005. A marked increase in the number of heat waves has also been observed in Norway, as well a geographical spread of the phenomenon, where heat waves now occur in areas where it was previously unusual. Urban areas are particularly exposed to extreme heat due to the fact that building mass and hard surfaces, such as asphalt, both store and reflect heat in the immediate area, which contributes to intensifying the warm-up. Combustion and heat loss from traffic and industry also contribute to increasing the temperature. This is called the "heat island effect. Trees and other vegetation play an important role in regulating the temperature locally. Green roofs can produce up to 25 degrees lower temperature on the roof compared to me...
