The Gamma Detection system (GDS) detects the presence of gamma rays emitted from radioactive isotopes in body organs or tissue. The system provides both a visual indicator (count bar) and audible indicator (an increasing or decreasing sound that varies in pitch) as the level of gamma radioactivity increases or decreases.
Gamma Probe Salient Characteristics:
The Neoprobe Gamma Detection system (GDS) console (Model# NPCU4) with Bluetooth wireless technology, detects the presence of gamma rays emitted from radioactive isotopes in body organs or tissue. The system provides both a visual indicator (count bar) and audible indicator (an increasing or decreasing sound that varies in pitch) as the level of gamma radioactivity increases or decreases. Portland VA currently has one Bluetooth cordless probe with collimator that is sterilizable (model# 1100-03307 with collimator tip model# 1013) and two unsterile corded probes with collimator (model# NPR14 with collimator model# NPE14 and cord model# MPA76). We are required to have two Gamma Detection system (GDS) consoles for when we have two surgeons operating at the same time due to two services using this system (General surgery and ENT). ...
