Recent advances in scientific research in ornithology have made it possible to identify new technical characteristics significantly improving the effectiveness of avifauna marking devices. This work sheds updated light on the expected performance of this equipment in terms of protection of avifauna and now guides RTE in the choice of protection solutions to be deployed, both on the existing network and as part of new projects to create lines. As part of a continuous process of improving its practices and environmental performance, RTE wishes to immediately integrate these scientific recommendations into its avifauna marking market, in order to guarantee the adequacy of the solutions implemented with state of the art. As part of environmental studies, RTE is considering using new marking devices aimed at maximizing bird protection performance. It therefore appears necessary to have a suitable purchasing framework allowing the supply and implementation of these new beacons for network line beaconing operations.
