The World Bank Group (WBG) launched a global initiative on offshore wind in March 2019. The Offshore Wind Development Program is being funded and led by the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) in close partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group). The Program-s objective is to support the inclusion of offshore wind into the energy sector policies and strategies of WBG client countries, and support the preparatory work needed to build a pipeline of bankable projects. Key parts of this program are scoping studies, country roadmap studies, and technical assistance.
