The project aims to provide a long-term solution that repairs the deficiencies in the existing identified fire separations located throughout each level in accordance with the National Fire Code of Canada - 2015 Section 2.2 Fire Separations. This section states that where fire separations are damaged and the integrity of their fire-resistance rating is compromised, they are required to be repaired to maintain the integrity of the fire separation. The existing fire separations are also not compliant with the National Building Code 2015 and National Fire Code - 2015 as per Section 3.3 Safety Within Floor Areas (NBC 2015). Fire separations help to protect occupants within the building and is also a method for protecting buildings from the spread of fire into adjoining areas for designated time periods.
