The subject of the assignment is: "PM0371 - Fire Safety 127X". The existing storage building 127X contains four bunkers in which medium-level radioactive waste is stored in conditioned form. In bunkers 1, 2 and 3 there are approximately 13, 500 bituminized Eurobitumen packages, which areThe chemical composition entails specific fire risks. To meet the fire safety requirements set in art. 17 of the Royal Decree of 30 November 2011 on safety regulations for nuclear installations (as amended by the Royal Decree of 19 December2014) a fire fighting plan must be developed, whereby the spread of a possible fire must be limited. The firefighting strategy consists of quickly flooding all existing packages in one bunker, immediately after detecting a fire of one Euro.bitumen package in this bunker. To achieve this, an automated extinguishing system was designed that has the following functionalities: - reliable detection of a fire from a Eurobitumen package in a bunker; - gravity filling of the relevant bunker with water, within the hallf hours, up to a level above the top layer of packages (approximately 4 meters); - cooling and precipitating smoke in the communal corridor adjacent to the bunkers.
