INTRODUCTION

This Notice is for planning purposes only and is not a Request for Proposal, Request for Quotation, or an obligation on the part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for conducting a follow-on acquisition. NIST does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this Notice or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement or payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by NIST will arise as a result of submission of responses to this Notice and NIST use of such information.

NIST is seeking to identify business concern sources capable of providing services for the Federal Earthquake Risk Reduction Coordination Workshop for an anticipated firm-fixed price type purchase order as described further in this notice.

Background:

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is the lead agency for the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP or Program). NEHRP is an interagency partnership providing the leadership and technical resources needed to reduce human, economic, and societal losses caused by earthquakes in the U.S. and its territories. The four NEHRP agencies are:

• Federal Emergency Management Agency• National Institute of Standards and Technology• National Science Foundation• U.S. Geological Survey.

NEHRP is a coordinating program for earthquake monitoring, research, implementation, education, and outreach activities developed and conducted by the NEHRP agencies.
