Establishment of program offices for strategic activation, development and implementation of interventions During 2026, Swetrial has opened calls for government grants with the aim of strengthening Sweden's conditions and capacity to attract and carry out more clinical trials. The calls include funds for clinical trial networks, clinical trial networks in early stages as well as national investments that contribute to strengthened cooperation, developed working methods, increased implementation capacity and long-term sustainable structures for clinical trials. The call for funds for 2026 includes approximately SEK 45 million. The scope, breadth and strategic importance of the call mean that Swetrial's office needs to ensure a coherent and structured handling of the grant portfolio that will need to be established. The networks, projects and efforts that are awarded grants are expected to be able to vary in focus, degree of maturity, geographical spread, form of implementation and dependencies to other actors within the system for clinical trials. This entails the need for a common model for program management, with clear forms for planning, prioritization, follow-up, risk management, reporting, experience feedback and coordination between different initiatives. Swetrial's office has a central role in keeping the work together, supporting Swetrial's advice and ensuring that the call's intentions are translated into a purposeful implementation.
