Prequalifications are invited for Engineering Consulting Services, Water Supply and Sanitation in Cahul.
The basis is a Feasibility study for the water and waste water systems in Cahul elaborated in 2017. Cahul town (app. 37, 000 people) receives its raw water from the River Prut. It is pumped through an 8.2 km transmission main to a water treatment plant. After treatment, it is further pumped into the town distribution system comprising of 5 pressure zones. The town distribution network is 108 km long, the supply to other villages another 86 km. The operator Apa Canal Cahul (ACC) has 18, 600 customers covering 94% of the population.

The consultancy services shall be performed tentatively for the following tasks concerning water supply: raw water intake including sand removal, transmission main, NRW reduction & network rehabilitation, water treatment plant improvements

The sewerage system of Cahul Town is 52 km long and serves about 60% of the population through 8, 500 connections. The wastewater is collected from three catchment areas towards three wastewater pumping stations. The pumping stations transport the wastewater to the existing WWTP which is located to the south of Cahul Town. The consultancy services shall be performed tentatively for the following tasks: wastewater treatment plant, 40 km sewerage network extension including 3 pumping stations and service connections. Further services might cover around 7+8+22km sewerage network and 11+8+16 km water supply network

The Consultant shall provide services for final design, tendering, construction supervision and assistance during the defects notification period. In addition to the infrastructure measures the Consultant will assist the PEA and ACC in the institutional and technical aspects i.e. O&M and preventive maintenance, reduction of NRW, asset management, human resource development.
