The Crowsnest/Castle Experience - Front Country (CCE) project sites are located within the Crowsnest Recreation Management Unit (RMU) of the Livingstone Public Land Use Zone (PLUZ). Accessible from the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass, these sites form a vital link for year-round recreational activities in southwestern Alberta, connecting to the Livingstone PLUZ, Castle Provincial Park, and Castle Wildland Provincial Park. Over the past decade, the increasing popularity of these sites has resulted in challenges, including site degradation, parking congestion, waste management issues, and public safety concerns. These challenges necessitate targeted upgrades and the formalization of the sites to ensure sustainable recreational use. In response, Alberta Forestry and Parks (AFP), in collaboration with ISL Engineering, prepared the Conceptual Design Report (December 2024). This project aims to address site degradation, improve visitor experience, and ensure environmental sustainability by upgrading facilities and infrastructure at five key locations.
