The solution must store excess heat from the summer half and supply heat back in the winter period. The project includes the establishment of a well park with around 100 energy wells (approx. 200 m deep) as well as associated pipe and distribution solutions. The facility will be connected to new buildings and a low temperature network. The project has several specific challenges: • establishment in an area with demanding ground conditions (quick clay) • requirements for high operational reliability and long service life • storage and operation at relatively high temperatures (up to 50-60 °C) • need for good insulation through the loose mass layers • interaction with other energy systems on campus NTNU therefore wants dialogue with the market before choosing a final solution and implementation model.
