Reducing reliance on cash payments has significant immediate andlong-term benefits for consumers, businesses, and governments. In many emerging markets, despite the availability of various types ofelectronic payment services, their adoption by consumersand merchants is not optimal. Several factors are at play, including the quality of the digital financial services ecosystem, coststo merchants and businesses, consumer behavior and attitudes, the legal andregulatory environment.The World Bank, in collaboration with the Central Bank Kosovo, aims toconduct an assessment of the electronic payments acceptance (EPA)landscape in Kosovo. The assessment will include an in-depth analysisof the current state of the electronic payments ecosystem and providerecommendations on implementing actions that improve acceptance and usage ofelectronic payments in the country.For this purpose, the World Bank seeks to collect reliabledata on the EPA ecosystem, on the merchant side, consumer side andprovider side.
