Request for Information (RFI)

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS), which manages and operates portions of the Savannah River Site (SRS) under a Department of Energy (DOE) prime contract, solicits expressions of interest from potential suppliers with the experience, capability, and capacity to provide drum handling equipment. ­­­­ This RFI is issued to assist with finding potential suppliers interested in this solicitation.

The SRS is located approximately 15 miles south of Aiken, South Carolina and is 310 contiguous square miles.

Scope Summary

Background

The K-Area Complex (KAC) Drum handling warehouse (DHW) is proposed to be a 170- x 100- permanent structure with conventional steel framing or pre-engineered metal framing system and a clear span width. It will be constructed to support the receipt, inspection, testing, and storage of up to 3600, 7A type A, stainless steel drums. A robotic inspection area and High-Pressure Lab (HPL) will also be installed in the DHW. The Material Balance Area (MBA) is the portion of the building where the 3600 drums will be stored, and it is proposed to occupy approximately 76- x 100- of the structure. See Figure 1 below for a pre-conceptual layout of the warehouse. Note: this layout does not specify exact location or sizes of these rooms to allow flexibility for the design agency.

Task

First, we are requesting information for an Inventory Management System (IMS) to manage the drum inventory located within the MBA inside the DHW. This will include entrance to and exit from the MBA.
