The development of: - An online basic training course for (future) dog owners about responsible pet ownership, with an emphasis on animal-friendly handling of dogs; - A train-the-trainer course for dog professionals with transferable teaching materials; - A uniform, visual and didactic package of 'dog language' (documents, templates, videos, visuals, etc.) for wide distribution. The development of these components is based on the question of how an accessible, scientifically substantiated and didactically strong training on responsible dog ownership can be developed with a view to application in Flanders. The focus is on determining the essential content (knowledge, skills and correct interpretation of dog behavior). translating this into an accessible and effective didactic approach (using diverse and interactive learning methods) and integrating clear quality and evaluation principles in the training material. In addition, efforts are being made to professionalization component, where trainers are prepared and supported with uniform materials and guidelines, so that they can apply these training courses in a consistent and high-quality manner.
