Tender Details

The primary objective of this assignment is to assess the hosting capacity of the Kathmandu Valley's electricity distribution network to accommodate the projected increase in electricity demand from EV charging, and to identify the investments, technologies, and financing arrangements needed to support a safe, reliable, and low-carbon charging ecosystem. The specific objectives are to: ● Quantify the additional electricity demand arising from EV charging across the Kathmandu Valley under multiple EV uptake scenarios. ● Assess the technical readiness of the existing distribution network to absorb these new loads, with a focus on bus depot sites and other high-demand locations. ● Identify infrastructure investment needs, including transformer upgrades, feeder reinforcements, and load management systems. ● Evaluate the potential for integrating solar and hybrid renewable energy solutions into the charging infrastructure. ● Explore public-private partnership (PPP) models and financing mechanisms — including climate finance — to fund the scaling-up of charging infrastructure.
