The municipality of Camarones, inthe province of Chubut, Argentina, is located within the Patagonia Azul BiosphereReserve, recognized by UNESCO in 2015 for its extraordinary biodiversity andits importance for the reproduction and migration of birds and marine mammals.The Port of Camarones is the only maritime access point near the recentlycreated (April 2025) Patagonia Azul Provincial Park and is key for localdevelopment and ecotourism. The PROBLUE program, a multi-donor trust fundadministered by the World Bank, supports the sustainable development of marineand coastal resources, the reduction of marine pollution (including plastics), the protection of critical ecosystems, and the generation of green jobs.PROBLUE promotes the integration of nature, climate, and development intopublic policies and local management and has granted non-reimbursable funds forthe development of diagnostics and plans to promote Camarones as a Blue Port.Proper waste management is essential to prevent marine pollution, protectecosystems, and strengthen the local economy, especially considering theexpected growth in fishing, tourism, and port activities in the area. It is inthis context that the activities of this consultancy are framed.
