Description : The Town Dock provides marina facilities within Torquay Harbour for a range of small vessels, varying in size from 6m to 12m in length, and can cater for up to 163 vessels as well as providing visitor facilities.It is flanked on one side by the historic World War 2 D-day Slipways, where vast numbers of American servicemen and all of their logistical requirements were embarked ready for their historic landings. It is also flanked by Haldon Pier which provides the main protection from the adjacent Torbay.Six of the existing pontoons that form the wave screen for the marina need to be rubberised as the joints have become worn. This will require them to be removed from site for shot blasting and metal works. While they are off site a temporary wave screen will need to be put in place to protect the marina.The access bridge to the marina also needs to be refurbished, this will also need to be taken off site for blasting and minor ...
