Request for Proposal for Design/ Engineering and Build of an extension to the existing bulkhead (quay) at the Container Port, Port Purcell, Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
SCOPE OF WORKS
The Design and Works must consist of: 1) A structurally engineered bulkhead that extends a minimum of 700ft east of the existing bulkhead. The bulkhead must comprise of sheet piles and reinforced concrete. 2) Along the bulkhead/quay, immediate approach and basin should be dredged to 9 meters (30 feet) minimum water depth. 3) The bulkhead should be able to accommodate vessels with a deadweight of 25000t. This is inclusive of the installation of bollards appropriately spaced to allow for the safe mooring of vessels ranging from 150 to 600 feet in length. 4) A concrete apron 50ft in width should accompany the length of the bulkhead. The design and works should factor for any backfilling that may be required behind of the bulkhead. 5) The proposal must include documentary evidence of the geo technical research necessary to support the design submitted. 6) The design should facilitate proper drainage from the apron as well as drainage from within the Port Authority’s compound. 7) The bulkhead should be constructed with iron tubes/beams protruding out of the top surface of the bulkhead. These must form a landing zone to protect the concrete surface from being eroded by the ramps of vessels that are moored for stern loading/off-loading. The tubes are to be 12ft in length, perpendicular to the berthing face and designed not to impede vehicular traffic8) Provisions should be made to allow the supply of fresh water to vessels from the existing potable water infrastructure. 9) Design should also detail engineering, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) and a fire support system.
Tender Security/Security Bond from a Bank or Insurance Company for a sum equivalent of 1% of the Contract Sum.
