Wageningen University & Research (WUR) has several research and innovation centers for dairy farming, including Dairy Campus, De Marke and Carus. These centers play a key role in developing and applying knowledge that contributes to sustainable, innovative and... future-proof livestock farming. They combine practical research, fundamental science, education and collaboration with the business community and social partners. Objective The joint objective of the centers is to strengthen the innovative power of the dairy sector. Research focuses focuses on themes such as: • efficient and sustainable feeding strategies; • reduction of emissions and circular agriculture; • Climate-proof business operations • improvement of animal health, welfare and longevity; • use of new technologies and data-driven management; • Nature-inclusive agriculture • knowledge transfer and collaboration with education and practice. Developments Dairy farming faces major social and economic challenges, including climate and environmental goals, changing legislation and regulations and the demand for higher animal welfare standards. WUR responds to this through her to actively use centers for research, demonstration and knowledge dissemination. The research results are not only important for dairy farmers, but also for advisors, chain parties, policy makers and students. The centers thus contribute to the transition to future-proof livestock farming, both nationally and internationally.
