The Public Service Commission of Bridgewater (PSCB) is seeking pricing for a technical proposal to assess the limits of inundation and the potential consequences resulting from a dam break or failure of Weagles Dam, located within the PSCB-s source water area in Lunenburg County, NS. The source water area for PSCB is the upper Petite Rivière watershed, encompassing approximately 11, 380 hectares west-southw01-est of the Town of Bridgewater. This watershed includes a network of interconnected lakes and brooks that form the backbone of the region-s natural water supply. Key water bodies within the source area include Hebb Lake, Milipsigate Lake, Minamkeak Lake, Little Lake, Newcombe Lake, Garber Lake, Demone Lake, Andrew Lake, Lewis Lake, Fredrick-s Lake, Matthew Lake, Wildcat Brook, Demone Lake Brook, Birch Brook, and Fredrick-s Brook. Of this total area, approximately 5, 780 hectares are designated as a protected water supply zone. This designated area is bounded by Highway 103 to the south, Camperdown Road to the west, Lapland Road to the north, and Highway 325 to the east. Given the critical role of Weagles Dam in the hydrological integrity of the watershed—and its proximity to residential areas—PSCB requires a comprehensive assessment to inform emergency planning, infrastructure resilience, and future updates to its dam management program.
