Processing applications for medical travel takes a significant amount of time for the Insured Health Services (IHS) Medical Travel unit. The existing method for submitting applications by fax involves delays due to busy fax lines and incomplete applications requiring follow-up and manual data entry into the claims processing system. This has a high administrative burden on staff and clinics and is leading to staff burn-out and significant additional effort and time to process medical travel applications.
