Tender Details

Tenders are invited for Critical Technologies for W-Band Travelling Wave Tube Electronic Power Conditioners (Artes 4.0 at 5c.487) (Re-Issue)

Objective: The objective of the activity is to design, manufacture and test the critical Electronic Power Conditioner (EPC) technologies (high voltage and thermal management techniques) to drive 100 W class W-band Travelling Wave Tubes (TWT). An Engineering Model of the high voltage EPC module will be designed and tested in a representative vacuum environment. Targeted Improvements:Enabling W-band EPCs (20 kV voltage class) while maintaining comparable accommodation requirements to Q band EPC solutions. Description: Future high throughput telecommunication satellites are anticipated to benefit from the available Wband spectrum for their feeder link in order to satisfy the increasing bandwidth needs of their user links. High power amplifiers based on Travelling Wave Tubes (TWT)can offer needed the output power level and can offer acceptable power efficiency. Wband Travelling Wave Tubes (TWTs) are under development in Europe, however critical technologies and subsystem elements for the Electronic Power Conditioner (EPC) are not available yet to cover the related very high voltage levels of up to 20 kV.This activity will develop the high voltage EPC technologies, subassemblies and thermal management techniques needed to drive 100 W class TWTs. An engineering module of a complete high voltage module, including the transformer and insulation material, will be built and experimentally tested. This includes thermal vacuum testing. Read less
