sludge ring has a number of uncertainties:
- the sludge is not sanitized
- the sludge contains residues in the form of microplastics and other organic compounds which are not
optimum to be discharged in nature
A solution is used that uses part the carbon contained in the sludge as a source of energy for drying and at the same time potentially removing / converting unwanted substances into the sludge. The sludgemust be transformed into a value-added product for agriculture, while preserving or expanding the planetary availability of phosphorus.
The end product must have soil-improving properties and be hygienic.
