Refurbishment of 5 Off Gloveboxes
Reference Number : NNLC061
Refurbishment of 5 off high integrity gloveboxes.
Main Site : Sellafield.
NNL has a Small Scale Hot Isostatic Press (HIP). The project requires gloveboxes for pre and post processing of material that has passed through the HIP. Five existing boxes are to be repurposed at the supplier`s facility, with the supplier required to design modifications and implement the fit-out.
The 5 boxes consist of:
— a chain of three Nuclear Fuel Centre of Excellence (NFCE) gloveboxes that were manufactured, however never fully assembled or works tested,
— a spare Facilities Operations Group (FOG) glovebox that was inactively commissioned however is currently in storage,
— a rod line box that was inactively commissioned, however a change in future requirements has enabled a box to be released for use. This box is part of a suite of three boxes on site that is required to be converted to a standalone box.
While there are design similarities between the three types of boxes, NFCE, FOG and Rod Line, there are significant elements that are different. All 3 type of boxes were designed by different design houses.
The boxes are to be modified, fitted out and worked tested before being transported and unloaded at NNL`s Workington facility. It is proposed that NNL`s Commissioning Team will be responsible for the installation of the Gloveboxes.
Full details can be found in the attached specification.
