Cryogen-free physical property measurement instrument
Reference Number : D/650/01.01.04.00/2016
A cryogen-free instrument capable of measuring various physical properties of materials as a function of temperature and magnetic field. The physical properties in question are electric resistivity, magnetoresistance, thermopower and thermal conductivity.
Research groups at Aalto University School of Chemical Technology, Department of Chemistry and Materials Science conduct research on advanced functional materials. These include ceramics such as thermoelectric materials and high-temperature superconductors, inorganic-organic hybrids and metalorganic frameworks, semiconductors and metals. Materials are studied in both bulk (as pellets) and in thin film form.
An important focus area is materials characterization. There is currently a need for a cryogen-free physical property measurement instrument that allows for automatic measurements of various materials properties as a function of sample temperature and applied a magnetic field.
We seek a complete, turn-key, stand-alone physical property measurement system capable of measuring materials properties, including electric resistivity, magnetoresistance, thermopower and thermal conductivity. The operating temperature range must be at least 2-400 K and the maximum adjustable magnetic field at least 9 T.
