CABEI requires hiring a Consulting Firm to develop an initiative focused on mitigating the impacts of flooding and other climate related hazards, such as coastal resilience and erosion, in the municipalities of Corozal, Dangriga, Punta Gorda, and Orange Walk in Belize. This will involve assessing the current capacity of the drainage systems, identifying existing deficiencies, and proposing targeted improvements to reduce flooding and other identified risks. The initiative will also consider projected urban growth and the potential impacts of climate change. These measures should contribute to an overall improvement in municipal development; therefore, the studies from this consultancy should refer to and also inform any updates to municipal development plans where necessary. This initiative is aligned with the targets set out in the #planBelize Medium Term Development Strategy and other subnational/sectoral plans and policies. It will also contribute to the increased efficiency and effectiveness of Belize-s disaster risk management policies and measures.
