Tenders are invited for consultant_ to Support Statistical Analysis for Yangon Urban Survey -“Status and Determinants of Food Insecurity and under Nutrition in Yangon Urban Areas".
International consultant to support statistical analysis for Yangon urban survey -“Status and determinants of food insecurity and under nutrition in Yangon urban areas”
UNICEF works in some of the world-s toughest places, to reach the world-s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.
Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.
And we never give up.
Background
Since the end of 2016, WFP, UNICEF and the MOHS, National Nutrition Centre, have been collaborating together to conduct an urban research study in Yangon, entitled, “Status and determinants of food insecurity and under nutrition in Yangon urban areas, Myanmar” (SDFU). UNICEF has provided both technical and financial contribution to this survey along with WFP and MOHS, which covers 11 peri-urban townships in Yangon city involving 2, 000 households with children under 5. The survey uses qualitative and quantitative methods to examine key indicators in health, nutrition, food security, WASH that affect families, women and children. Socioeconomic and demographic data is also collected.
As of end of July 2018, data collection in Yangon has been completed, which produced four data sets: 1) Household, 2) Food Security, 3) Mother and Child health and nutrition, 4) WASH. Data sets are currently being constituted and checked for accuracy and will be available for the survey analysis stage starting end of October. UNICEF focal points have been designated to lead on the statistical analysis of the Mother and Child health and nutrition and WASH data sets, while WFP focal points will lead on the Household and Food Security data sets. Analysis will also be done in collaboration with relevant Government authorities and departments from MOHS, MOALI and MOPF/CSO.
Given the large sample size and number of indicators and data sets to be analyzed, and the need for cross-sectoral/cross-data set analysis, survey partners identified the need for an international consultant to provide statistics expertise and support to the survey analysis team. The international consultant would be someone who has experience in supporting and managing large surveys with multiple data sets and sectoral indicators, and support the survey analysis focal points from WFP, UNICEF and Government, to carry out statistical analyses in a harmonized and coordinated way.
