This project involves the safe removal, disposal of asbestos containing ceiling tiles, and reinstatement of a new ceiling located on the 1st floor of the board room and on the 2nd floor kitchen. The scope of works includes conducting all activities in compliance with applicable federal, provincial and local regulations governing hazardous materials abatement. The 12x12 ceiling tiles are adhered to the substrate drywall with mastic which is also ACM. The mastic is ¼” pucks that need to be chiseled off. Impacts to ceiling mounted elements (lighting, sprinklers, detectors, diffusers, etc.), HVAC, and life safety system to be considered.The work will begin with the preparation of the site, including installation of appropriate containment barriers, negative air pressure systems, and warning signage to ensure safety and prevent the release of asbestos fibers into adjacent occupied areas. All personnel involved in the project will be certified asbestos abatement workers and will use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).The removal process will be carried out under controlled conditions using wet methods and hand tools to minimize fiber release. The asbestos containing materials will be carefully detached, bagged, and sealed in approved asbestos disposal containers.
