Request for proposals are invited for Consultancy to Develop the Pre-Feasibility Study/Market Assessment for Upscaling of Non-Fired Bricks Manufacturing and Usage in Nepal.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The objective of these assignment is to support the project by producing 2 outputs. These outputs will support the financial rationale of the proposed GCF project.

Output 1 - Market assessment of the bricks sector in Nepal. This assessment aims to provide a detailed understanding of the non-fired brick market and its current as well as expected performance in Nepal, assess the extent to which the current barriers hindering the scale-up/adoption of non-fired bricks affect the market potential, and identify potential interventions for addressing the barriers - along the different stages of the product value chain- hindering the scaling of up of non-fired bricks manufacturing in targeted regions.

Output 2- Estimate the co-benefits of scaling up the market of non-fired bricks through assumed investment deployments. Co-benefits to be measured include Value Added generation and employment creation. The assessment should include an assessment of equity in the eco-brick manufacturing sector.


PROPOSED ACTIVITIES:
Output 1 must address four key parameters of the non-fired brick market in Nepal with the final aim of identifying potential investment opportunities:
a) Technology: Different technologies to manufacture eco-friendly bricks based on the different uses and according to the demand.
b) Location: Geographies with the highest investment potential and with the highest requirement for investment based on the market potential.
c) Product type: brick type based on usage and size, i.e. for construction, roof, floor bricks, etc.
d) Target Market: Constructions in rural as well as in urban and semiurban areas.

Output 2 should consider but not be limited to the following assessments each building on the insights from the previous one.
