Description: BACKGROUNDIn 2013, the Vanuatu Ministry of Health (MoH) decided to establish a new National electronic health information system utilizing the District Health Information System 2 (i.e., DHIS2). DHIS2 became operational in late 2014 and has gone through a series of upgrades to enhance the availability of health information for decision-making at all levels of the health system. The system is now called the Vanuatu Health Management Information System (VanHMIS).In 2018, the MoH embarked on revisions to the VanHMIS with new data collection forms published and distributed to health facilities, including aid posts. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic and with the increased focus on pandemic preparedness and response, the reconfiguration work was delayed. This disruption has also resulted in delays to data collection and entry in the data platform.
