Tenders are invited for Consultancy - Intensive End-User Monitoring of Medical Supplies, Pyongyang, DPR Korea.

For every child, deliver

Humanitarian supplies constitute more than 90 percent of UNICEF-s programming in DPR Korea. An efficient and effective monitoring system to ensure correct distribution and use of supplies is central to ensure desired health outcomes for children and women. In 2018, UNICEF has adopted a field monitoring Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) with minimum standards in terms of coverage and frequency. The SOP also institutionalizes the practice of intensive monitoring by external experts.

How can you make a difference?

We-re now seeking for a consultant to support in the field monitoring of medical supplies and equipment in 25 counties including vaccines, cold chain equipment, and drugs. The consultant will observe the availability and proper utilization, match distribution lists with actual stocks, assess conditions of storage, and review expiry dates. Moreover, the consultant will provide supportive supervision on the use of medical and nutritional supplies and participate in the delivery of training sessions.

In particular, the consultant will:

· Develop a daily/weekly/monthly plan of activities and monitoring visits

· Carry out field monitoring visits

· Write a capitalization document describing the observed situation

· Give recommendations on best practices

· Prepare a presentation with key elements

The consultancy will run for two months starting in September (if possible) and includes a 6-week in-country mission. Please see the attached Terms of Referencefor full details of the assignment.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

· A Master-s Degree in Medicine/Public Health, Pharmacy, or another relevant discipline for health supply chain and service delivery monitoring

· Additional qualification in Supply Chain Management is an asset

· At least 7 years of international professional experience in development/humanitarian interventions

· Field experience and readiness to work in the field

· Previous work experience with UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA or other international medical organizations

· Familiarity with the DPR Korea health system and health partners is an asset

· Experience in conducting or facilitating training

· Proven track record of high quality written analytical reports

· Proficiency in English
