Consultancy - Database Systems Specialist

BACKGROUND

The Database Systems Specialist will report to the Head, Data Center Operations Unit.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures the incumbent should be able to perform the following:

· Controls, develops, tests, documents, implements, monitors, and keeps up-to-date the agency central database systems operational procedures as recommended by relational database standards, used by centrally hosted enterprise information management application systems;

· Assists in developing database architectures, data model, data dictionary, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures;

· Responds to and resolves web-based database access, performance and data integrity issues;

· Plans and coordinates data migrations between systems;

· Assists and reviews changes to database design to assess impact on physical database and Makes necessary recommendations and implementation.

minimum Qualifications and Experience

· A university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer science, information technology;

· At least Six years of experience in which two years have been in managing a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) production environment;

· Fluency in spoken and written English.

COMPETENCIES

· Commitment to continuous learning, willingness to keep abreast of new developments in the field of information technology;

· Ability to work under stress;

· Ability to plan and organize the ongoing assignments;

dESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience in implementing large web-based centralized database systems;

· Experience of application design and development in relational databases running on Windows environment;

· Experience and proficiency in database structures, theories, principles, and practices, and database tuning and troubleshooting;

· Experience in designing, building, configuring and supporting database servers and web-based solutions in a complex environment;

Additional information

· The incumbent may be required to travel in the Agency-s area of operations;

· The incumbent may be required to work outside of normal duty hours and on call basis.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

· The duration of the consultancy is 9 months with the expected start date of April 2019;

· Remuneration for this consultancy will depend on the qualifications and experience of the candidate;

· The incumbent will be based in Amman, Jordan.
