The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), on behalf of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Afghanistan, invites qualified, experienced, and reputable road construction firms to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for participation in the upcoming tender for the Construction of Paved Roads with Roadside Drainages in Kabul and Herat Provinces, Afghanistan.Project Back ground:In October 2023, a series of devastating earthquakes struck Herat Province in western Afghanistan, causing widespread destruction across nine districts and directly affecting more than 275, 000 individuals. The disaster severely damaged critical infrastructure, including residential buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, and water supply networks, leaving thousands of families vulnerable and in urgent need of assistance. In response, UN-Habitat launched a recovery initiative focused on rebuilding and retrofitting community infrastructure using the “Building Back Better (BBB)” approach.
