The purpose of this Request for Proposals (“Request for Proposals” or “RFP”) is to invite prospective proponents (“Proponents”) with a successful track record of providing Construction Management services to submit proposals (each a “Proposal”) to Simon Fraser University (“SFU” or the “University”) for the provision of Construction Management services for the SFU Shrum Science Centre Biology Building Renewal project, project number 300383CM (the “Project”), as further described in this RFP, at SFU-s Burnaby campus address at 8888 University Dr., Burnaby, BC V5A 1S6. The Shrum Science Centre Biology Building, in its current state, does not provide adequate services and spaces to meet the needs of modern teaching and research. Among other issues, there are persistent challenges with the building envelope (persistent water ingress and flooding), inadequate HVAC (insufficient air changes, poor or no humidity control, inadequate thermal control), lacking plumbing services, and insufficient power capacity for new mechanical units and scientific equipment. The layout of small, discrete labs - as opposed to larger open labs- does not support collaboration and team-based work.The renewal project intends to realize approximately 8, 463 square metres (91, 100 square feet) of upgraded building (net) area.
