This assignment concerns the construction of a dike with an integrated weir construction on the Lange Eind in the Groot Rietveld in Kallo. The area is a remnant of the former Melselepolder, which was largely reclaimed during the development of the port. It area spontaneously evolved into an immense reed field and forms a permanent nature compensation area for the Historical Passive. The Groot Rietveld, together with Rietveld Kallo in the West, is a Nature Reserve Type 4. The area consists of a Northern and Southern compartment separated by dike bodies. These ponds drain via two drainage structures to a parallel canal 'het Lange Eind'. To be able to buffer more water in the Lange Eind (and the water level in both to better control compartments), a weir construction with a dike must be constructed just upstream of the railway.
