The District of Summerland seeks to engage a consultant to develop trails plans for Conkle Mountain and Cartwright Mountain. In consultation with District staff, the consultant will develop Trails Plans for both Conkle Mountain and Carwright Mountain. At a minimum, the District expects that the work will include:Engage project partners and trail users to collaborate on the creation of the Trails Plans (Province of BC, Penticton Indian Band, District of Summerland Council, District of Summerland staff, neighbouring landowners, multi-use trail users, Visit Summerland, local businesses, etc.) and to gain input on current recreation uses/activities on the mountains, challenges, and opportunities.Complete an environmental scan of both mountains and trail networks, including a review of existing reports, to assess environmental values and to inform the plans; provide environmental management plans which includes addressing invasive plants.Develop a detailed inventory and mapping of existing trail networks and identify property ownership.Develop recommendations on proposed future trail uses (multi-use vs. dedicated uses, motorized use including e-bikes, etc.).Complete an independent audit of all trails to determine trail classifications (level of difficulty).
